“Be Prepared to Have the Difficult Conversation”

Underage alcohol consumption is a topic that caregivers, professionals, and community members need to remain vigilant about. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) prompts us to have that discussion with our youth. Historically Alcohol use among teens was considered a rite of passage, and for some, that view remains. However, the world young people live in has changed drastically. Alcohol remains the drug of choice for teens, but substances like Xanax, Ecstasy and even Fentanyl are becoming more prevalent. Prevention is critical, and it starts by having a conversation.
