Alcohol Use Among Young Women “Worrying Trend” -SAMSHA

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMSHA) newest data confirms that young women aged 12-20 consume more alcohol than young men. Girls have an increased risk of memory impairment, alcohol-induced- blackouts, and a higher risk of trauma. And young women are more susceptible to long-term health consequences when drinking and binging. The best kryptonite is educating our future generation about the dangers of alcohol use. SAMSHA adds, “prevention works when we work together!” and what a better day to re-equip or start on international women’s day.
