A Journey of Resilience and Purpose
Ginger’s writing career began when she founded NH Wedding Magazine (1998). After navigating the challenges of an abusive marriage, at the age of 42 she began self-medicating with alcohol during a time when self-medication was not a term commonly known. Given her mental weaknesses, she crossed the line into alcohol dependence in the short years she self-medicated with alcohol. What could have been a less complicated recovery turned into hell for her and her two children as they were put through a five-year high-conflict custody and divorce that revealed immense stigma and systemic gaps in the family court system. These conditions fostered post-separation abuse and harmed her children on a number of levels. On behalf of her children, these experiences fueled her passion for education and advocacy to prevent other families from suffering similar experiences with the court system that she and her children experienced.
Watch Ginger's Story

At the conclusion of the harmful custody case, Ginger sought her BA in Psychology and joined the New Hampshire Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association (NHADACA) at the forefront of the peer recovery coach movement (2015) in NH. Her passion was fueled during her first Recovery Coach Academy and Trainer of Trainers event, where she recognized the families she could support through peer recovery coach training.
Pioneering Peer Recovery Training
Recognizing the unmet demand in New Hampshire for peer recovery training, Ginger founded the NH Recovery Coach Academy, offering comprehensive training programs required for Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) certification. This academy addressed the workforce development needs of recovery coaches and solidified her role as a leader in the field. That same year, she helped launch one of the first state-funded programs providing peer services in NH: Granite Pathways Regional Access Point Services (RAPS).

Expanding CHOICES
Recognizing the need for an improved training curriculum, Ginger transformed NH Recovery Coach Academy into nationally recognized CHOICES Recovery Trainings (2018), offering core and recertification training for state-specific peer credentialing, and became a NAADAC Approved Provider (2019).
Choices Recovery Training is the curriculum for the NH Department of Corrections and the Colorado Department of Corrections, which are building peer initiatives and workforce development within the corrections system.

A Legacy of Change
Inspired by her journey as a mother and a survivor, Ginger is dedicated to breaking the cycle of stigma. She passionately works to educate individuals, families, and communities about the misinformation of emotional abuse, addiction, and the realities of recovery. Her efforts aim to drive social and systemic change, giving back in a way that paves the way for hope, healing, and resilience for those harmed through repeated misconceptions and negative societal messaging.
